Abstract

Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) from quartz is used, e.g., for geological and archeological dating, and involves the measurement of light from a sample, followed by fitting a sum of exponentials to these data. We consider two different forms of exponential models for this purpose – one without weighting and another with a certain weighting of the data. In this work we compare the two models with regards to their ability to estimate the correct model parameters, including the unknown number of exponential components.
